I was a professional swimmer, and am a coach and teacher. This school is great! You pay more, but for those of you who do t know. Swim pools are expensive to maintain ! Two thumbs up my kids did great there, and a great stepping stone before competitive, or just being water safe.

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!, September 22, 2011

My child started out in the RH City swimming classes. My impression with the City is that the 1/2 hour lesson really doesn’t give enough of one-on-one time for each child. Having failed a particular Badge a few times, I decided to give Felix’s a chance since their ratio is only 1:3, giving me the impression my child would have a greater one-on-one time, therefore, more learning. However, even though this place is private, there isn’t a whole lot of input a parent can give. When I questioned the actual techniques being taught, I was told to view the Bulletin Board to get the breakdown per badge. When I asked how my child was progressing, I was told an assessment would be done in the coming days and would have an answer then. Really, it’s just like talking to the folks at the City! Personally, I saw no improvement in my children’s swimming. Our instructor only walked up and down the pool with my child at his side trying their best to swim as per his instructions. Very rarely did he pay enough attention to my child to correct their strokes. On top of this, the instructor received a trainee with him to train during my child’s lesson. This, one would think would be beneficial to my child, as detailed instructions would now be given. However, the instructor now talked endlessly to the trainee about his hobbies, once again, not paying any attention to my child. Furthermore, the manager (the guy who sits behind the desk and does all the administrative stuff) never said a word to the instructor about this, even though, he walked enough times into the pool area where he surely heard and saw this.
My child passed this badge and even the next within this one session, but as far as I’m concerned, I feel like it’s a lot of BS. Just a way to make the parents feel like their children really did learn something. My child’s techniques did not improve at all. Their swimming skills were the same at the end of the lessons as they were when they started out. In comparison to the City levels, my child is still at the same level as the one they couldn’t pass. So, what did I accomplish in switching to Felix’s - only that I wasted $350!

My kids have been to every swim school the city has to offer, from public to private. Felixs taugh my kids in a total of two years how to swim every stroke, over 600 meters endurance non stop and water safety. The school has a disciplined progress oriented approach to instruction and highly professional. Couldn't be more happy.

My sons are still going there to swim ever since January 2008, which is over three years with non-stop in every session. The first 6 session they were in semi-private, but the manager happened to put somebody into their group twice. And it also had happened in two session with the change of instructor during the session so, it turns out my sons didn't pass those levels because every instrutor expects differently. Later, the manager kept failing my sons and they put kids of different levels into one group such as level 5 with level 7 and never teach the kids what they are supposed to learn of their own level. So it turns out when the kids do perform the test the manager expect them to pass with flying colours. Well tell me, do you think its fair to the children? As parents we observe our children when they swim, and we believe that our kids understand what they are being taught. However the manager still make excuses to fail them. They never care about what our children need, they just talk on the phone or do other things, even sometimes the instructors are talking to each other ignoring the students. Are they supposed to keep an eye on the students, or helping the students with difficulties. I spent over $13,000 on my childrens at this swimming place. They are not only wasting our time and money they also hurting my sons' feelings. They make my sons feel bad and not interested in swimming anymore. Now, the manager is trying to keep my sons in the same level 10 with an excuse about not meeting his requirement. All I want to see is fairness and satifaction. But they just burn holes in my pocket.
