There are always plenty of things to see and do at Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory!
It is situated on a 117 acre site which includes the environmentally sensitive Kossuth Bog. The 25,000 square foot facility includes a 10,800 square foot indoor tropical garden featuring 1000’s of free flying butterflies from around the world, over 75 different varieties of tropical plants, waterfalls, streams, reflecting pools, tropical finches, chinese painted quail and red-eared slider turtles.
We have 2000-3000 live free-flying butterflies on exhibit year round. Our tropical butterflies are raised in Costa Rica and the Philippines.
Our collection of exotic birds is always expanding at Wings of Paradise! We now have over 12 bird species that fly freely in the Conservatory.
Over 80 species of tropical plants are showcased in our year-round Conservatory, including Palms, Ferns, Jasmine, Banana & more.
Cockroaches, Spiders and Snails...oh my! Now featuring an observation honeybee hive where you can watch bees make honey!
Birthday Parties
A two hour birthday party includes:
- Use of the Monarch or Swallowtail Room
- An hour Interpreter-led program that includes a guided tour through the Butterfly Conservatory and two Galleries
- Goody Bag full of cool stuff
- Lunch served in the party room
Spend a week as an entomologist and discover the world of bugs at our Summer Camp!
The BugQuest Day Camp involves the following themed activities:
•Behind the Scenes at the Conservatory
•Insects in your own Backyard
•Becoming a Scientist
•Anything but Insects
•Bugs 101
Little Bug Troopers Preschool Program:
Join us for a bug-themed preschool program every Thursday morning for 4 weeks. Each week, the program includes circle time with bug songs and fingerplays, theme-related snack and craft as well as time in the tropical butterfly conservatory. Different bug-related theme each week. Parent attends with child. Pre-registration is required. Suitable for children 3-5 years old.
