Do you plan to have an Easter party to celebrate the first spring holiday? Everybody loves to party, especially kids, who always want to have lots of fun! The Toronto Parents Guide team presents a collection of fun Easter theme games that you can play with your friends and family…
Easter Party Preparations
As you are planning for your Easter party, involve your kids in planning, decorating and shopping. Children can make unique egg-shared party invitations – using their imagination and available supplies for colouring and decorations. They also can help plan what games to play and treats to make.
Easter Egg Hunt
Active fun games are a must for any kids party. Your Easter party can include a traditional Easter egg hunt, to be played as a starter or at the end of your party. Give each participant a little bag to collect eggs in. The colourful plastic eggs should be hidden beforehand. Hide special treats inside the eggs for a special surprise – small toys, stickers, jellybeans – you name it!
Easter Egg Relays
Fun and easy, no preparation required and good for any age group. For this active and fun game divide players into teams and line the teams up. You can mix kids and grown-ups for more fun! The person in front of the line is given a spoon and an egg (if you are using a plastic egg, you may want to fill it with candy to make it heavy). Blow the whistle to signal the start of the relay. Each person with a spoon and egg must carry the egg on the spoon to and from a designated spot. As soon as the player returns to the line, he or she passes the egg and spoon on to the next person in line. Award winning team with fun prizes!
Funniest Balloon: If you decorated your party with lots of colourful balloons you may notice that they look like very large Easter eggs! If the kids at your party are old enough, they may enjoy decorating balloons as Easter eggs. Let them use their imagination: kids will draw silly faces, animals, shapes… Prepare in advance round-edge markers for drawing on balloons. Award the funniest balloon, and everyone can take their creation home when the party ends.
Easter cookie decoration: let kids decorate their own Easter cookies. This activity can be great for any age, if the parent is around to help out to the little ones. Prepare in advance: bake cookies in shapes of eggs, bunnies, ducks or flowers; have coloured decorating frosting and sprinkles handy in many small containers. Give each child a paper plate to decorate their cookie on for easy clean up. This yummy Easter treat kids can take home!
Pin the Tail on the Bunny
This is a classic party game with an Ester twist. Before the party draw a big Easter bunny on a large sheet of paper. Prepare a tail – cut it and glue some cotton balls on it. Blindfold kids one at a time and let them attempt to pin or tape the tail to the Easter Bunny.
Whatever games you choose it’s always nice to prepare the prizes! Participation awards could be given to all players. Winner ribbons and printed Easter certificates can also be used to reward the winners in each game. Easter Party Games do not have to be complex to be fun. And don’t forget your camera to take lots of wonderful pictures at the party!
